SSG Brian Mintzlaff died December 18, 2006 from injuries sustained when his Bradley Fighting Vehicle rolled over during a combat mission in Taji, Iraq. SSG Mintzlaff was on his 3rd combat tour to Iraq.
Although Brian Mintzlaff had no idea he would still be deployed in 2006 when he joined the Army immediately after September 11th, 2001, he was always proud to serve his country. Brian married his wife, Jocelyn in early 2006. They were married only a few months before he was deployed. In that short time, Jocelyn said her husband became her world. “He was my best friend, and he was somebody that I could tell anything to.” Brian enjoyed the simple things in life like riding bikes, going for walks, and just spending time with their daughter, Braelyn.
Brian is survived by his wife, Jocelyn; daughter, Braelyn; father, Charles H. Mintzlaff; sisters, Victoria and Tonie; and father and mother-in-law, Jeff and Terri Range.
SSG Brian Mintzlaff was 34 years old from Fort Worth, Texas.
